Pismo Preserve

February 10, 2023

After some research we determined that the Pismo Preserve was open. We had attempted to visit a few days back and were turned away due to rain damage to the trails. Pismo Preserve is a place we endeavor to visit every winter. There are great views of the ocean, Avila Beach and Pismo Beach. But the main reason to visit in the winter is the green hills, oak trees, wildflowers and as we discovered this time, views of Edna Valley via the Discovery Trail.

After the long, beautiful hike we headed into San Luis Obispo for some BBQ and beer at the Old SLO BBQ. A fairly unique feature of the restaurant is the pour your own beer and wine taps. It’s always enjoyable to try new beers. We then headed back to Cayucos to rest.
